Esquisse Design Competition
Architectural Ornament

$20 Entrance Fee – Open to all ICAA members

Following the “Art & Science of Ornament” class, enter the esquisse design competition to create an original work of architectural ornament.  Top prize winner will receive $1,000 as well as a bronze casting of his or her winning design.  Specific instructions will be announced on the day of the competition.  Attendance at “The Art and Science of Ornament” class is encouraged but not required.

“Elements of Classicism: The Doric Order”

Held at the Daughter’s of Utah Pioneers Museum – 300N Main St, Salt Lake City, UT
$50 ICAA Member – $75 Non-member – $5 Students

Learn how the study of the classical orders is an essential foundation to the study of architecture.  Students will study the moldings and proportions of the Doric Order by laying out a column, entablature, and pediment (don’t worry, you’ll know those terms before the class is done). The class will conclude by combining these elements into an architectural composition.

Join artists Joseph Brickey and Niki Covington for an enlightening introduction to the theory and practice of figure drawing! April 12th will include a lecture covering theory, and April 13th will feature study from a live model in a studio setting.
