As a two part intensive workshop, this class is intended to teach architects and builders to learn by looking = to train the eye to understand the “rules” of traditional design. These talks include:
1. Nine Things You Need to Know – Secrets of a Successful Design
2. Schematic Design – Ordering the Elements
3. Windows and Doors to Use and Avoid
4. Porches, Balconies, and Entrances
5. Roofs, Cornices, Eaves, and Chimneys
6. Traditional Materials and Methods
John will be using images from the book Get Your House Rightwith the permission of Marianne Cusato for illustrative slides and handouts to participants.
Also, each attendee will receive a complimentary copy of the bookGet Your House Right.
The afternoon field session is intended to highlight the topics discussed in the morning session as they apply to good traditional design in the Salt Lake Valley.
